Remember the moonlight "picnic parties" among the sand dunes, where a chilly offshore breeze would force you to find a low spot where the dunes & underbrush broke the wind? The campfires helped to keep the girls warm, but you sure couldn't talk them into going for a swim in the dark.

I alway recall when going to school on the Palm Valley bus( Mary) was the driver after being picked up on A1A about a mile north of Mickler road. To see that the Innlet was on fire(1951 or 2). They did a rebuilt that lasted for years. Also when the Florida /Georgia game was played, Georiga would be housed at the Innlet. The Jax Beach Police with a few of us school boy patrol would escort them to the old Gator Bowl. Times were really simple in those day. Also there was a old ,wire and wooded slat fencing around the old landing site of the sub. Long gone now,and the new marker seems to be futher north than the old fence. Of course that was over 55 years ago.
