"Spud Chandler, X-Yankee pitcher was their manager. Lou Matlin was the business manager. They were a farm team of the Cleveland Indians in the old Florida State League which was class D. Best baseball player that came out of the Seabirds was Roy Nixon who made it to the big leagues as did his twin Ray Nixon. This was all around 1953-54-55. I remember one game where the Seabirds played the old Jacksonville Braves in town and won in an exhibition game."

There was a local player who played semi pro. It was (coach)Walter Andrews, his brother was (coach) Joe Andrews. (Fletcher) .Walter lived on south 16 ave . I would see him walking down the street to catch his ride to go play. Tom, (amsterdam)

Great. I'll see if I can find either of them. One eats with a group on occasion at Gene's.
